Meet Emmett Thomas Tracy!

Emmett Thomas Tracy
was born Thursday, September 17th, 2009
at 2:17pm
Weighed in at 7 lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long

We started the day out by having my water broke at 7:50am
The doctor gave me until 11am to have contractions before starting any further induction.
I started having contractions within the first hour and by 11 o'clock I was contracting every 2-3 minutes. By this point I began to think that contractions really do hurt and even told Tyler I think Lamaze is a bunch of crap. I remembered my doctor saying "there are no medals for going through labor without something for the pain" and decided I agreed with her. Enough was enough and I took the epidural. Epidural worked great and I didn't even notice that I had started to contract every minute... Well that was too fast for Emmett and his heart rate did not respond favorably. I then got 3 nurses at my bedside and was moved around into many different positions - very difficult to do with numb legs! I was also put on oxygen to help our lil' guy out. In the end my doctor ended up coming to monitor me herself and spent over an hour in my room deciding what to do (c-section vs. pushing). I had then progressed and dilated to 10cm within the hour... The final outcome resulted in forceps to get Emmett out as fast as they could before any further damage was done.

God was watching out for me and Emmett and we were/are both doing well and survived it all just fine! Attached are some pictures of Emmett and a video Tyler took of Emmett after delivery. Hopefully I'll still find time to update this ocassionally with pictures/video of Emmett!

I tried to upload different pictures than Tyler - enjoy!

Emmett loves being on his tummy if dad holds him this way!

Final Countdown

Soon Baby Tracy will reveal his identity and no longer be called Baby Tracy! The final countdown is on with me at 38+ weeks and not much longer to go. Hate to say it but those who guessed past the due date may be disappointed with the results... My doctor confirms things are progressing and says it is truly "any day now" and ordered that I am not even allowed to go to the lake because "you'll go quick". I "dropped" or lightened last Thursday and have not felt much else except the occasional cramps. I'm dilating and effacing despite not feeling any significant contractions...

So the wait is on and we're ready!
(as ready as you can be for something that will completely change your life...)
